What Is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy began with a German physician named Samuel Hahnemann. He was a careful, compassionate man, troubled by the harsh medicine of his day, and he noticed something quietly remarkable: that a substance capable of producing certain symptoms in a healthy person could, when prepared with great care and given in very small amounts, gently support someone moving through something similar. This is the idea often shortened to “like cures like.”
That phrase is true, as far as it goes — but it does not give you the true depth of what is happening.
The real heart of classical homeopathy is not the remedy. It is the attention.
Imagine two people who share the very same diagnosis. One is restless and easily chilled, longing to be left alone. The other is tearful and tender, aching for company and comfort. On paper, they look identical. In life, they are nothing alike.
Classical homeopathy looks at the whole of you — your history, your temperament, your joys and your fears, and the particular, personal way that you experience what you are going through. The remedy I choose is the one that resonates with your unique pattern. And when it is well-matched, it does not suppress or silence anything. It gently invites your own vital force to begin moving things toward balance.
This is why I set aside a generous, unhurried block of time for our first conversation.
I will ask you questions no one has thought to ask before. I will listen — truly listen — to the things other settings may have rushed past. Your story is precisely what I am here for. What I offer you is my full attention.
Let me show you what this looks like in practice, because it is the part that surprises people most.
Someone may come to me with a physical complaint that has troubled them for years. As we talk, a deeper story comes into view — an old hurt carried quietly, long before the complaint began. I do not chase that one symptom alone; I meet the whole of them, the part they can see and the part they cannot. Often, as the deeper wound settles, the complaint itself begins to ease — and a fuller life begins to open up.
Even now, this work fills me with wonder. I am meeting the whole person, the emotional and the physical together, and supporting the body’s own quiet wisdom. When someone comes gently back into balance, the body so often remembers how to heal itself.
Homeopathy is a gentle, individualized approach aimed at supporting your overall health and vitality. It treats you as a whole person and as a respected, active partner in your own care. It has brought real steadiness, relief, and growth to the people I have been privileged to help.
It is not a replacement for the care of your doctor. A homeopath does not diagnose, treat, or prescribe for disease, and I will always encourage you to keep your medical team informed and involved. Homeopathy works most beautifully as one thread woven into a thoughtful, whole-person approach to your wellbeing — never as a thread pulled out alone.
I do not offer this work from a distance. I have known its help in my own life — and that is part of why, when I sit with you, I can trust so deeply in what is possible for you.
If this resonates with you, then you already understand something essential about homeopathy.
You do not have to carry it alone. I would be honored to be a steady presence while you find your own footing.
The American Institute of Homeopathy (AIH), established in 1844, is the oldest extant national professional medical organization in the United States. Founded by Constantine Hering shortly after the death of homeopathy’s founder, Samuel Hahnemann, the AIH serves as the primary voice for the homeopathic medical profession.
